The Libyan Maritime Transport and Ports Administration (LMTPA) are managing the development of a new port to the West of the town of Sirte, the Sirte Commercial Port (SCP). It is envisaged that the new port will serve as an additional hub port on the Libyan coastline for both import/export and transshipment. This major port will have an ultimate capacity of around 8 million tonnes per year and a total berth length of around 3,000m. Berthing facilities will include provision for Containers, Multi-purpose / general cargo, Bulk import (cereals etc.), Ro-ro and Cruise liner. Royal Haskoning is responsible for the master planning and design for the entire port development, including data collection, specification of additional surveys, master planning and concept designs, final designs.
